

The Two TreesThere are two trees that grow in the still dark places of the world, where men do not dwell. Sprung from seeds when the Earth was still young, now they are the last of a line of Ancients that will never again bear fruit or nuts or sprout new saplings under the sun. Some say they came from the knotted wood of the Ash or the fibrous seeds of the Ceiba or sweet pulp of the sacred Fig. But that is not something that we could ever know in the way one knows their name or their kind or their purpose in this world. All that we know is that they once came from a seed born of a tree that in turn came from another seed born from another tree.The Two Trees


A Postscript to GenesisThe dawn had not yet returned to the world, yet there we sat in the darkness. Us and them. The stage had been set. All of the players were in place, kings and pawns, ancestors and scions, the Exiled and the Reborn. And somewhere in the darkness we hoped He lurked. Listening with them, to hear the greatest lie we would ever tell...
